Antennas

Just a bit of fun.  Some people still have old-fashioned TV aerials up on the roof, so we snap pictures when we see one we like.  Send us your Antenna pics and we'll post it on the site.  Extra credit if you can find a car with a wire coat hanger being used as an antenna! (Note: I finally found one in January 2015--see below!)

Quick, Robin, to the Antenna Mobile! All right, I'll admit that we didn't take this photo, but I saw it on the web and thought it was pretty funny. Think this guy can get decent reception...on anything?

The first of a series of antennas seen on rooftops in Brooklyn, NY. In northwest Brooklyn, the TV reception is very clear because there are no tall buildings between the broadcasting antenna and the rooftop antennas, so there are still some cable TV holdouts. But satellite dishes are making inroads...

Courtesy of Antenna Books author Marvin J. Wolf, this antenna/art installation was found at the Santa Monica Pier!

I like the juxtaposition of the crumbling old tenement next to the brand new highrise.

The spiral car antenna reminds me of a narwhal tusk!

Yes, you can get Antenna Books in Canada. Gotta love the Canadian flags on this Antenna in downtown Ottawa, and the geese up on top. Buy some ebooks, eh?

A crappy Ford Taurus with a cheapskate owner has gone the wire-hanger-antenna route in Brooklyn Heights. Bravo!
